ifm OY Series Safety Light Curtain
The Machinery Directive stipulates machinery should not present a risk. Since there is no zero risk, the aim is to achieve an acceptable residual risk.
If safety is dependent on control systems, these must be designed so as to minimise malfunction. Safety technology in automation minimises the risk of damage to persons or installations.
The ifm product range comprises a multitude of safety products including electro-sensitive protective equipment, door switches, actuators and control systems.
Safety light curtains and safety light grids are used where hazardous areas must be secured.
They are optoelectronic safety devices consisting of one transmitter and one receiver.
They conform to the safety requirements of type 2 / SILE 1 or type 4 / SIL 3.
Typical applications include access prevention or hazardous area monitoring of robot cells and production lines. For food and beverage applications, units with protective tubes and high protection ratings are offered.
Safety light curtains with a floating blanking can be used to safeguard material feed processes on presses and saws.
The OY series safety light curtains are used to safeguard hazardous areas and protect personnel. Depending on the protected area height and number of beams, the units can be adjusted to protect hands or an entire person.
Thanks to their slim design, they are suited for applications with limited mounting space.
