Many objects, such as aluminium bags, blister packages or curved metal surfaces with printed, dot-peened or punched codes have difficult reflecting properties.
Dome illumination provides a remedy. The integrated LEDs radiate into the dome from below.
A traditional dome light provides an extremely diffuse and uniform illumination from all directions.
Reflected light provides non-directional, soft illumination that is free of shadowing.
This effect is well suited for inspecting highly specular, and curved objects, but at close working distances.
The light I.D. needs to be approximately 50% oversized compared with the object size to be illuminated.
Due to the diffuse reflection under the dome, the result is an evenly lit surface, comparable to the light conditions on a cloudy day.
If standard illumination is used, however, direct reflection on the object may lead to halation (hot spot), like the reflection of sunlight on a cloudless day.
In ifm’s O2D LED Domes, the homogeneous illumination guarantees reliable monitoring or identification results even in case of reflective objects with complicated shapes.
The light colour and the four lighting segments can be selected via the pushbutton module or externally.
By making full use of hemisphere diffuse reflection structure, you can flash out high-uniformity and high-intensity light making it suitable for the inspection of objects which is uneven and light-reflecting.
Homogeneous illumination by means of integrated LEDs for precise recognition of different codes even with complicated shapes and reflexes creates benefits such as …
